Welcome to the exciting world of International Competitions.Many of the competitions are aimed at nurturing young talents and well as discover the hidden talents of those from the older age groups who has to pursue a professional career early in their lives due to family and financial committments.We hope that this site and the lists of competitions provided below and the contests would help to inspire greater talents amongst all communities.

2009 Queenstown Chess Classic

The 2009 Queenstown Chess Classic is a 10-round internationally rated tournament, open to all players. Based on the successful 2006 Queenstown Classic - attended by 193 players from 18 different countries - it will be the most prestigious chess competition ever staged in New Zealand. It is expected to attract players from all levels, from novices to Grandmasters. Everyone is welcome. Some overseas enthusiasts will surely combine the event with a holiday of a lifetime - Queenstown is set in the heart of one of the most stunningly beautiful regions of New Zealand. Prizefund is NZ$50,000.

California International Choral Competition
We are inviting choirs from around the world to join us for the California International Choral Festival & Competition, 2009, which will take place June 26-28 in the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. This Festival promises to be even better and more memorable.

Designer Bookbinders International Bookbinding Competition
Designer Bookbinders currently organise two bookbinding competitions.The society has annually sponsored and promoted The Bookbinding Competition since January 1975, when it assumed responsibility for the Thomas Harrison Memorial Competition, founded in 1957.Binders from all nations are invited to enter Designer Bookbinders first International Competition. The event is being organised in conjunction with the Bodleian Library and an exhibition of selected competition entries will be shown alongside the Bodleian’s own exhibition ‘1000 Years of Bookbinding.

Fifth Worldwide Competition for Junior Sociologists
The International Sociological Association (ISA) announces the organization of the Fifth Worldwide Competition for Junior Sociologists engaged in social research. The winners will be invited to participate in the XVII World Congress of Sociology which will take place in Göteborg, Sweden, July 2010. The winners’ papers will be considered for publication in English, subject to editorial decision and revision, in the ISA’s journal International Sociology, or in another ISA publication.

Free Poetry Contest
Poetry.com will award over 1,200 awards and prizes totaling over $100,000 to amateur poets in the coming months. Every three years, the Foundation of Lower Saxony invites young violinists world-wide to Hannover for the International Violin Competition. It is the highlight of our comprehensive music program, dedicated to Joseph Joachim.

HOW Promotion Design Awards :::
We are now accepting entries for the 2008 HOW Promotion Design Awards and there’s a category for every design occasion. So send in your best wedding invitations, client promotions, pro-bono work and more. Winners will be featured in the October 2008 issue of HOW magazine and one Best of Show winner will receive a trip to the 2009 HOW Design Conference. Entry deadline: March 21, 2008

New York International Ballet Competition
New York International Ballet Competition (NYIBC) has established itself as one of the world's premier dance competitions. Held every two years, its purpose is to identify promising young dancers, enhance their professional education, provide them with career opportunities that would be difficult to achieve otherwise, and promote international understanding and good will. New York International Ballet Competition, Inc. is the premiere program of its kind in the world providing dance education and employment opportunities for young dancers ages 17 to 24. Held every two years at Lincoln Center, the 10th NYIBC will take place June 8 to 28, 2009.

San Antonio International Piano Competition
The San Antonio International Piano Competition, founded in 1983, is dedicated to providing an enriching musical experience for San Antonio and South Texas audiences while offering a challenging yet inspiring opportunity to promising young artists between the ages of 20 and 32.Held every three years, the Competition commissions a new piano work which all contestants must memorize and perform. All Competition events are free and open to the public.

The AXA Dublin International Piano Competition

These include début recitals in London and New York, appearances at international festivals, and concertos with leading orchestras.The AXA Dublin International Piano Competition is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.

The Cleveland International Piano Competition
In 1975 a prestigious international piano competition was added to Cleveland’s rich cultural legacy. The International Organ Festival Of St.Albans

The Interpretation Competition is open to organists of all nationalities born after 31 July 1976.We are devoted to promoting "the King of Instruments" as a solo instrument in its own right as well as an instrument capable of performing in a variety of musical contexts.The Festival is staged every two years - predominantly in the magnificent historic Norman St Albans Cathedral - attracts artists, musicians and performers of the highest calibre from all around the world.St Albans, England is 50 kilometres north of London.

The London International String Quartet Competition
The London International String Quartet Competition 2009 will be held between Monday 30th March - Sunday 5th April 2009. The Preliminary Rounds will be held at the Royal College of Music for the first time, with the Semi-finals and Final (on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th April respectively) again at the Wigmore Hall.Full rules and repertoire will be announced in February 2008, with the closing date for applications in September 2008.

The Washington International Competition for Strings

The World Beard and Moustache Championships
The World Beard and Moustache Championships will return to North America for the second time in its history when the City of Anchorage, Alaska rolls out the red carpet for the world's bearded elite on May 23, 2009. The biennial celebration of facial hair is open to everyone. The host for this event is the South Central Alaska Beard and Moustache Club which is committed to making the WBMC 2009 the biggest and best ever. Major sponsors include the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau.

ThinkQuest Competition - Win Cash & Prizes
ThinkQuest inspires students to think, connect, create, and share. Students work in teams to build innovative and educational websites to share with the world. Along the way, they learn research, writing, teamwork, and technology skills and compete for exciting prizes.Students, ages 9-19, form a team and recruit a teacher to act as coach. Toru Takemitsu Composition Award
Toru Takemitsu Composition Award (annual competition of orchestral composition), which is a international composition award following Takemitsu's principles 'Prayer, Hope, Peace', continues since 1997 to encourage younger generation of composers who will shape the coming age by creating new orchestra works. Any person, regardless of nationality, who is not more than 35 years old at the end of the year his/her application is made.Closing Date is 30 September 2008.

Unisong International Song Contest
The Unisong International Song Contest is open to songwriters in ALL countries. Yehudi Menuhin International Competition For Violinists
Welcome to the world’s leading international competition for violinists under the age of 22 and the only junior competition with a truly International set of candidates and a jury of Internationally renowned performing musicians.The Competition is open to violinists of any nationality under the age of 22. Junior competitors must be under 16 years of age and senior competitors under 22 years of age on the last day of the competition in question. Violinists aged 15 may also enter the Senior Section.
